Atty Gen: Cordray Racks Up Another Law Enforcement Endorsement
More great news for attorney general candidate and Ohio Treasurer Rich Cordray (D-Grove City) -- the Cleveland Police Patrolmen's Association (CPPA) today announced it will support his campaign. This continues an unbroken streak of coveted law enforcement endorsements, including the Ohio Fraternal Order of Police, Ohio Patrolmen's Benevolent Association, Toledo Police Command Officers' Association, and Toledo Police Patrolmen's Association.
Stephen Loomis, president of the CPPA, praised Cordray in announcing the organization's support at the Justice Center today:
Your support of law enforcement and the issues surrounding them, complimented by your longstanding and unblemished record while serving in public office, has helped make our decision simple. After comparing your remarkable record of experience and accomplishments to the lackluster resume of your opponent, it gives me great pleasure to announce that the Cleveland Police Patrolmen's Association, representing over 1,400 police officers, dispatchers and their families, endorses you in your race for Attorney General of the great state of Ohio.
Audio from the press conference is available here.
A poll by Survey USA released on Monday shows Cordray leading his GOP opponent Michael Crites by ten points, although still under 50% and with quite a few voters still undecided:
44% Cordray (D)
33% Crites (R)
13% Owens (I)
10% Undecided
This race is looking good for Cordray but is far from a lock. Readers should go to CordrayforOhio.com and sign up to volunteer, put up a yard sign, contribute, and otherwise help make sure that a good Democrat and terrific public official gets elected in this important race.
