BREAKING : Fisher and Brunner Only Dems to Qualify for Senate Ballot

The Ohio Secretary of State's office has announced the full slate of candidates who have passed signature qualifications and will appear on the May primary ballot.

TJ Johnson isn't one of them. Neither is Charlena Bradley.

This leaves Lee Fisher and Jennifer Brunner as the only Democrats running for Senate and should put to rest the concerns (if any) some may have had that the two other women candidates would steal votes from Brunner.

In other news, Tea Party darlings Sandra O'Brien and Seth Morgan made their way to the GOP ballot for Secretary of State and Auditor respectively. This should give nightmares to Ohio GOP Chair Kevin DeWine who is now seeing first hand the danger of the crowd he's been courting. Nothing would be better than a crazy, rabid, angry GOP statewide ticket for the second cycle in a row.

On to the primary!

That's good news!

Odd that Charlene Bradley showed up at the Wood County Democrats endorsement meeting. Did she honestly think she'd be on the ballot? (I heard she barely had more than the 1,000 signatures needed so unless she was ultra-careful about each person she asked to sign, it was almost certain she wouldn't qualify). Who on earth is she? where did she come from? Why is she running? Given that BOTH women failed to qualify, I feel that the theory that Lee Fisher was somehow behind them becomes more dubious, especially the idea that Lee may have helped them gather signatures. It doesn't add up. Anyway, neither seemed to be running a serious campaign or to be running for a strong, issue-related reason, so it's for the best, I think.

Oh yes, also ...

Welcome back, Sandy O'Brien! The comedic value you bring to a campaign is priceless.

Weirder

What was weird was that she showed up to the Wood County endorsement meeting the night before being thrown off the ballot and that Jennifer Brunner probably knew that she wasn't going to qualify for the ballot. I guess Brunner was being gracious in not bursting Bradley's bubble. And following protocol that the announcement would come the next day.

In terms of Bradley's motivation for running, she said her mother told her in 2004 that Barack Obama would be President and that you will run for Senate. Her mother passed away since then and so she was running to fulfill the prophecy of her mother. There was no evidence that she was a Fisher plant.

Charlena gave me a Wells-Bradley for Senate 2010 t-shirt. Her family owns a t-shirt screening business. It will truly be a collector's item!
