Buy Ohio, Give Ohio : Ohio Music (Saves)

Over the last few days, we've recommended great Ohio-made products you can give for the holidays. A complete listing is here in our fancy Buy Ohio, Give Ohio holiday shopping section.

Today, we're going to feature something you can give/shop to double your Ohio impact. If you're in Cleveland, specifically the Waterloo neighborhood in the northeast corner of the city proper, swing on over to Music Saves.

Music Saves is an indie (read: indie music sold by someone other than a big box) record store which sells new and used CDs and vinyl. It's simply the best record store in the city and probably the state. (And none of that is because co-owner Melanie - who shares the shop with husband, Kevin - used to be an intern at our ad agency about 10 years ago).

Music Saves keeps odd hours (like 2-10ish on Tuesdays, etc), but they are well worth checking out when the doors are open and they're usually there late when the Beachland Ballroom is sold out next door.

Our suggestion for holiday giving? Buy a Music Saves gift certificate (also available online) and encourage the recipient to use it on the new release from Akron Blues/Rock Duo, The Black Keys. This way, Kevin and Melanie spend your money in Cleveland while Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney spend their money in Akron. See how that works?
