DNC Youth Council meeting and Google Technology
Today I went to the DNC Youth Council's forum on "The nuts and bolts of youth voting" featuring Ohio Congressman Tim Ryan and Nebraska Senate Candidate Scott Kleeb and others. Both explained their experiences as young candidates and entertained questions from the crowd.
Congressman Ryan is a natural, I especially liked when he outlined the qualifications one must possess when going into public service. He said "You have to like people" and explained that "people don't want a dissertation on an issue, they want you to listen to them". Both points seem natural.
After the youth council meeting, in the convention center, Google hosted a technology stand featuring their election features. One is particularly exciting: It enables voters to search google maps for their voting place on election day!
go to maps.google.com/vote to search for yours. I'm very excited about this feature, as it could vastly improve our ability to search for voting locations. I remember as a first time voter how confused I was as to which precinct I lived in and even where to vote, this technology could really improve the youth vote in 2008!

Mobilize the (Youth) Vote
I was reading through your blog and since one of your subjects dealt with politics and the power of the youth vote, you might be interested to view or maybe even post this video on your blog.
As it is, more and more of America's youths are becoming apathetic to the whole election process, as well as with politics and governance in general, so hopefully, a video like this might rile them up and tell them to make a stand for their own future. After all, to paraphrase the saying, the future is what they make of it.
