Lots going on everywhere this weekend. Let's take a minute to remember (and remind others) who built this country, gave us the weekend, vacation time, sick leave, benefits, safe workplaces, and elevated our workforce to the best in the world. It was the American workforce and organized labor.

Two big Labor celebrations this weekend
The Cleveland AFL-CIO parade steps off at 10 a.m. tomorrow (Saturday) from Euclid High School on East 222nd. Gov. Ted Strickland and county executive candidate Ed FitzGerald are the grand marshals. On Sunday the Lorain County AFL-CIO has its all-day family celebration from noon to 8 p.m. at Black River Landing. Gov. Strickland and AFL-CIO national president Richard Trumpka will be speaking.
