The Ideas to get Ohio back on track
There's nothing more important to Ohio than creating new jobs and bringing economic development to our state.
That's why I've proposed a number of job creation policies I think we should act on right away.
I also want to hear from you about what's working in your community, what ideas you have to create jobs and what you'd like to see your government doing to rebuild the middle class and put Ohioans back to work.
To help us all learn from each other, we've created a page on our website where you can submit your own ideas and vote on the ideas you think make the most sense.
Rob Portman spent more than two decades in Washington, and now he wants to go back and recycle the economically disastrous policies he helped implement during the Bush administration. We're not going to let that happen.
With your help, I will bring to Washington not only my experience and record fighting on the ground with Ohioans for Ohioans, but I will also bring your ideas.
To get the discussion going, here are a few of the ideas I really believe in:
Number one, we need a federal jobs creation tax credit to incentivize businesses to create new jobs immediately.
Two, there are federal recovery funds that were approved last year and still haven't been spent. We need to put those to use rebuilding infrastructure and weatherizing homes ASAP.
And three, we need to make sure banks are not just getting bailed out, but are actually lending to small businesses so they can survive and even grow.
Smart policies like these would help get us back on the right track, but there isn't going to be any one quick fix. We need to consider all ideas big and small.
Our state and nation face serious challenges, and I'm as committed as ever to solving them.
