Learn How to Fight Back in the War on Women — NE Ohio & SW Ohio!

It doesn't seem like a day passes anymore without another outrageous Republican assault on the freedom and liberty of women. Just this past week, we saw the Republicans in the Michigan legislature, while debating the most extreme anti-choice legislation we've seen, ban Democratic women legislators from speaking as punishment for publicly using the word "vagina." (I'm sure they prefer a shorter word that begins with C.)

It really is time for everyone on our side to get engaged and fight back. This week, two Democratic groups — one in the Cleveland area and one in the Cincinnati area — are planning forums on how to do this.

On Tuesday, June 20, from 6:30-9 p.m., the Parma Heights Democrats are hosting a forum at the Umerly Center, 21016 Hilliard Blvd. in Rocky River (western suburb of Cleveland). Speakers include Gary Dougherty of Planned Parenthood, Kellie Copeland of NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio, Deb Kline of Ohio Jobs With Justice, and State Rep. Nickie Antonio. Cindy Demsey of the Cuyahoga Democratic Women's Caucus will moderate. This is going to be a lively and informative evening. We had these same speakers at our Democratic club in April, and it was one of the best discussions we've had in a while.

Down in the southwest part of the state, the Warren County Democratic Party is hosting Ohio Democratic Women's Caucus executive director Lauren Harmon, Wed. June 20, from 7:30-8:30 p.m. at the WCDP HQ at 1975 N. US Route 42 in Lebanon.

Both events are free and open to a public concerned about women having choices and control over their lives. (i.e. teabaggers stay home)
