Marathon, Speedway, Super America and Their Dirty Little Plan to Kill Cap and Trade
The next time you need to pull over and fill your tank, take a moment to make a decision. Do you want to line the pockets of those who side with the Republicans on the energy bill? If you pump your gas at Marathon, Speedway, or Super America, you're doing just that.
The Dirty Three are not only holding out hope for an energy crisis and global warming, they're actively promoting it. The stations recently began replacing pump top signage of ads about snacks and sodas with political messages promoting the defeat of the Democratic-driven "Cap and Trade" legislation, which is designed to reduce carbon emissions. (See image below)
With messages like "Concerned about a 58% increase in gasoline prices?""Concerned about $2900 per year higher gasoline , heat, electric and other costs?" or "Concerned about 2 million more lost jobs?," the placards sport the American flag alongside the frightened faces of people just like you. Also attached to pumps are tear-away cards with similar messages directing customers to their "grassroots-style" website.
The website is chock full of distortions and fiction about the cap and trade legislation. But really, since when have oil companies been straight with the American people about anything?
OurEnergyVoice.com? Please. My Energy Voice is loud and clear. It's shouting "NO! to Marathon, Speedway and Super America." I hope you'll join me in passing this along.
