Rob Portman Steps in It

It seems that Republican Senate candidate Rob Portman decided to stop by the Dayton Veteran Affairs Medical Center Sunday to assure veterans how much he cares about them, even though his former boss, George W. Bush, cut funding for veterans’ services and increased their wait times for those services. And the veterans let him know how they feel about that!
President Obama has already proposed significant budget increases for the VA, and it would be interesting to know if Portman considers this among the “spending” he’s probably going to attack Democrats for on the campaign trail.
Of course, I haven’t gotten to the truly funny part yet. When Portman showed up, accompanied by his campaign mananger, the Dayton Daily News informs us, he “was quickly informed by VA officials that campaigning on federal property is illegal.”
