Speaking of the GOP not being a serious party ...
how ’bout those Ohio Republicans? Our own ORP seems to have a death wish these days, between the fussin' and feudin' going on between the Kasich camp and the Husted camp ... and then this:
Blogger Bill Sloat is focusing mostly on local Cincinnati doings these days, but this is a must-read even for those of you not interested in what's going on in Ohio's southwest tip.

"Fed Audit Discovers Ohio Republican Party Filed Inaccurate Financial Records: State GOP Hid $1.2 Million In Debts From Public."
Again ... aren't these the guys who are supposed to be so serious and responsible? It's become almost a truism (because they say it so much) that Republicans balance budgets, rein in "spending," and in general are good stewards of money, unlike allegedly wild-spending Democrats. Never mind that it's always Republican presidents that run up deficits and Democratic presidents that bring them down.
It's become such a part of the accepted public narrative that Target, whose political greeting cards are usually pretty innocuous, has one with Obama on it that says something like "I have a little birthday message for you," and you open it up and it says, "spend spend spend." Since Obama has been struggling to undo the reckless spending of George W. Bush, that's so erroneous it's basically furthering a GOP talking point — a lie.
And since the Ohio Republican Party can't keep its own books straight and their REAL wild-spending governor John Kasich bloated the state budget by $5 billion over Ted Strickland's last budget, Ohio Democrats should be ready to shoot down every Republican candidate who tries to run here on "fiscal responsibility." The ORP is its own worst enemy. I have my fingers crossed that the Ohio Democratic Party doesn't blow it and can take advantage.
