Springsteen to Perform at Early Voting Rally at OSU 10/5
Bruce Springsteen will perform in a free live concert at the Main Oval at The Ohio State University at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 5th, encouraging Barack Obama supporters to register and take advantage of Ohio’s early voting period that ends the following day:
Springsteen’s appearance at OSU’s Main Oval will highlight Ohio’s early voting window, which as of yesterday allows for voters to cast their ballots in person at designated early vote locations across the state. The rally, held the day before Ohio’s voter registration deadline, will also encourage attendees to register to vote for the first time, or update their registration.
Springsteen endorsed Senator Obama in April, writing that the Democratic nominee “speaks to the America I’ve envisioned in my music ... a country that’s interested in its collective destiny and in the potential of its gathered spirit.”
“Senator Obama is a great fan of Bruce Springsteen and is honored to have his support,” said Aaron Pickrell, the Ohio State Director of the Obama-Biden campaign. “His presence at the rally will provide our campaign with the opportunity to mobilize tens of thousands of our supporters in one place to go out and vote early, as well as to register new voters and sign up new volunteers who will help our campaign for change send Barack Obama to the White House.”
Details after the break.
Gates open at 3:00 PM on Sunday and the program will begin at 4:30 PM.

Hmm...I wonder if this is a good idea or not?
Last time Bruce performed at OSU was for John Kerry, who lost to George W. Bush in 2004.

We just got back from the Bruce Springsteen/Obama rally and there was zero information on what the ticket would do. There was some bashing of republicans and a whole lot of recruiting and angling to take people to vote early. Disappointing, there was a good chance to push the views and ideas, but it felt very gimmicky to get people to vote with out thinking. Yes, Bush sucks, but tell me something every one doesn't already know. Tell me what this "hope" & "change" is, I didn't see a reason to believe today,or any other time during this campaig, that here was any real ideas. There is a reason 50% of democrats voted for Clinton, Obama is not that good and is just running not to lose. Kerry lost to Bush because he did not have substance, Obama may lose because his speeches are getting repetitive and he has to gimmick votes from voters who never had an interest in our country or politics.
