State Representative Goyal to Attend Tonight's White House State Dinner

Ohio State Representative Jay Goyal, the man I suggested last week should be selected as the running mate of Governor Ted Strickland, will be attending the state dinner hosted by President and Mrs. Obama at the White House tonight. The dinner is being held for the Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh. It is the first official state dinner of the first of the two terms of the Obama administration.

Other guests expected this evening include Vice President Joe Biden and his wife, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Michael Mullen, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, United Nations Ambassador Susan Rice, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, and Energy Secretary Stephen Chu.

It's a nice opportunity for Goyal and an even better one for the state of Ohio to showcase one of our more effective public servants.

From the Goyal release :

“I am honored to represent Ohio at the White House where I will discuss the issues and concerns facing Ohio’s working families,” said Goyal. “I am also pleased with the opportunity to invite my mother along with me.  The work ethic and patriotism my parents displayed throughout my life was crucial in my decision to enter public service and is a continuing example to me today.”

Coverage of the dinner begins on C-SPAN at 7PM.
