Ted : Garrison Won't Be Lt. Governor
Cincinnati's City Beat is reporting tonight that Governor Strickland flatly denied Marietta State Representative Jennifer Garrison is being considered for Lt. Governor in the 2010 campaign. According to the article, Strickland's comments came during a question-and-answer session at an LGBT-themed fundraiser in East Walnut Hills.
OhioDaily reported two weeks ago that a reliable source informed us Garrison was under consideration. If she was on the list, and her name was floated as a trial ballon, it apparently popped shortly after take-off.
The thought that a Democrat endorsed by both the NRA and Ohio Right to Life, with a very vocal and focused support of the Defense of Marriage Act, would be acceptable to the state electorate isn't that far-fetched.
The thought that she'd be acceptable to the progressive base is.
I, for one, am still very hopeful the Governor selects a highly-talented woman as his running mate, but I can't say I'm disappointed it won't be Garrison. Progressives have come too far this year to start taking steps backwards.

Lt. Gov.
Let's hope he's not considering Joyce Beatty either.
How about Capri Cafaro?
Just joking....
Strrickland's running mate should be a woman
The candidate for Strickland's running mate should be a woman.
It is unfortunate (at this point) that it isn't Jennifer Brunner. That would be nearly prefect.
I don't agree
I don't think lt. gov. is a role she's particularly suited for. If she was going to stay on as a statewide official, secretary of state is a way better fit for her. It's almost better if her ultimate intention was to be governor; it's really a lot higher profile. But I think she actually might be best suited to be senator.
Lt Gov
Yes, it should be a woman and why not Joyce Beatty? She is experienced, dynamic and would be a great addition to the team. Her only drawback is the payday lending issue but she survived that in the house.
