Events
From the blog:
It's official now. The Cincinnati, Dayton, and Northern Kentucky chapters of Drinking Liberally are going to be celebrating DL's 5th anniversary on Thursday, May 29th, at Fries Cafe, on 3247 Jefferson Avenue in Clifton (current home of Cincinnati DL District 1). We'll be partying on the upstairs patio starting at 7:00.
As a bonus to the evening, we're going to have live music from 9-11 p.m., courtesy of Peter Adams and the Nocturnal Collective. They've become a regular on college stations across America, and their second album, I Woke With Planets In My Face, has already received accolades from Spin Magazine. These guys are one of the best bands in Cincinnati, and we're very lucky to have gotten them to play for this event.
Burgers, hot dogs, and brats will be sold (we're working on some vegetarian options), and the Fries bartenders will have just about any alcoholic beverage you want, including the 5th anniversary signature drink, The Superdelegate. What's in a Superdelegate? Well, just like the real superdelegates, we're not going to tell you until the very last minute.
As a bonus, we'll have several local candidates in attendance for you to meet. So, to summarize: cool people, great drinks, food off the grill, awesome entertainment.
We look forward very much to seeing you at the party on the 29th. Please feel free to pass this along to friends, family, neighbors, enemies, liberal-minded organizations you're associated with...anyone that you think would enjoy this, let them know, it's going to be a great time!
State Rep. Ted Celeste (D-Grandview) will hold a District Dialogue on Housing Issues from 7:00 to 8:30p.m. on Thursday (5/29) at Ashburn Youth Center, 85 Clarendon Avenue in Columbus (west of I-70 and West Broad Street in the Hilltop).

Global corporations are buying up local water supplies. Communities lose control of their most precious resources. This film documents cities such as Stockton, CA, where their water/sewer was bought by a private corporation and what that means to the citizens and to democracy.
Film will be followed by a discussion, including updates about Stockton and the money and grief privatization has cost their community - information told to us during Michael McDonald's recent visit to Akron to work with Citizens SOS. He was the Municipal Utility Dept. supervisor when privatization occurred.

You are invited to a house party to support Progressive Majority in Ohio!
Founded in 2001, the mission of Progressive Majority is to take the fight to conservative Republicans by recruiting, training, and electing progressive champions at the state and local levels. In addition to the Progressive Majority staff, we will be joined by Representative Mike Foley, the Assistant Deputy Whip in the Ohio House of Representatives and a tireless worker for a Democratic majority in the House, and Subodh Chandra, a candidate for Attorney General in 2006, progressive champion, and a member of the Progressive Majority Farm Team.
The event will take place June 17th from 6:30-8:00 pm at 3316 Clarendon Road, Cleveland Heights. Your contribution as a Sponsor ($100), Patron ($50), or Guest ($25) will go directly to support Progressive Majority’s candidate slate made up of progressive challengers and embattled incumbents to help Take Back the Ohio House. With help from progressives such as you, Progressive Majority has been working with candidates in targeted races to help them run more effective campaigns and win their elections.
Progressive Majority has already been providing candidate services to members of our farm team and our endorsed candidates -- including individual general consulting, training, and fundraising assistance-- making sure that each and every one of them has the best possible chance to win. Our mission is solely to recruit, train and help elect candidates in 2008 and beyond who are committed to promoting a progressive agenda that includes economic justice, civil rights, health care, education, environmental protection and reproductive freedom. But we need your help to accomplish this important goal. By working together we can take back the Ohio House in 2008 and build a lasting progressive majority in Ohio politics.
