To celebrate this historic occasion, the Ohio Democratic Women's Caucus will host canvasses across Franklin and surrounding counties for women candidates running for Congress, the Ohio Senate, and the Ohio House of Representatives.
Specifically, women will be walking in targeted precincts for Mary Jo Kilroy (D-Columbus) in OH-15, Sharen Neuhardt (D-Yellow Springs) in OH-07, Danielle Blue (D-Columbus) in OH Sen-16, Marian Harris (D-Columbus) in OH House-19, Nancy Garland (D-New Albany) in OH House-20, and Rep. Rick Shriver, Candidate for the State Senate representing Meigs County, will be appearing in Pomeroy on Tuesday, August 5, at 6:00 PM. Shriver, who is a County Commissioner in Morgan County, has also been a professional musician for nearly forty years. He performs with his two sons, and is bringing his show to the Riverfront in Pomeroy.
Shriver is appearing in each of the nine counties in the 20th Senate District in what he is calling the “Taking Our Values to Columbus Tour.” Shriver, a lifelong resident of his family farm in Morgan County, believes that “we need someone to take our values to Columbus, not the other way around.”
The tour and the Meigs County appearance are aimed at helping to raise funds for the “Rick Shriver for State Senate” campaign. While there is no charge to attend, campaign contributions will be accepted at the event.
“Bring a lawn chair, meet Rick, and enjoy some good music, refreshments and fun along the riverfront,” declared Randy Hart, Meigs County Coordinator for Shriver’s campaign. The event is being sponsored by Citizens to Elect Rick Shriver.

Debbie Phillips, candidate for 92nd Ohio State House District, will participate in a forum concerning healthcare affordability and coverage hosted by Ohio Consumers for Health Coverage at the Athens Public Library from 6-8pm Tuesday, August 5th:
Recent increases in insurance costs have led businesses and public institutions to make the painful choice between providing health care or a decent wage. Phillips will fight to expand healthcare services for Southeast Ohioans through increased access to preventive care. Phillips is also dedicated to expanding access to Medicaid while enacting common sense solutions to keep spending under control.According to the Ohio Hospital Association, 4 out of 5 uninsured Ohioans are in working families.
“As I travel the district, I’ve been meeting people every day who are struggling with health care issues. From the woman who is delaying important tests until she is old enough for Medicare, to the parents who see close to half their paycheck go to cover their families, people need a change. I am committed to ensuring that we make the system work better for our seniors, our families, and the hard-working people of southeastern Ohio.”

One Night Only! A dinner-theatre event to benefit theObama forAmerica Presidential Campaign. Nobel Prize-winning playwright Harold Pinter strikes again with his recent hit "Celebration." This hilarious satire pokes fun at the group President George W. Bush fondly terms "the haves and the have-mores." New York Times Theatre Critic Ben Brantly described the play as "a lip-smacking slice of satire."
Because the dinner-theatre performance will take place at one of Cleveland's premier restaurants, there's more than the humor to induce lip-smacking. Don't miss some of Cleveland's best performers, as you enjoy a delicious meal at Nighttown, a restaurant and performance venue of worldwide renown. The proceeds will benefit the Obama Victory Fund.
To comply with campaign-finance law, we are separating the cost of dinner and your campaign contribution. After you have made your purchase, which covers ONLY the dinner costs, please make a generous contribution of any amount through:
http://my.barackobama.com/page/outreach/view/main/SubodhChandra
or bring a check payable to the "Obama Victory Fund" with you to the event.
There are several packages:
Package 1- Includes dessert, coffee
Package 2- Includes a salad, entree
Package 3- Includes, a salad, entree, dessert, coffee
Remember, the purchase isn't complete until you've both bought a ticket package AND made a separate contribution to the Obama Victory Fund, either online or through personal (not corporate) check at the door!
