The weekend of July 19th-20th will mark the 160th Anniversary of the first Women's Rights Convention in Seneca Falls, New York. To celebrate this historic occasion, the Ohio Democratic Women's Caucus will host canvasses across Franklin and surrounding counties for women candidates running for Congress, the Ohio Senate, and the Ohio House of Representatives.

Specifically, women will be walking in targeted precincts for Mary Jo Kilroy (D-Columbus) in OH-15, Sharen Neuhardt (D-Yellow Springs) in OH-07, Danielle Blue (D-Columbus) in OH Sen-16, Marian Harris (D-Columbus) in OH House-19, Nancy Garland (D-New Albany) in OH House-20, and Rep. Tracy Heard (D-Columbus) in OH House-26.

The meet-ups and canvasses will take place on Sunday, July 20th at 1:00 p.m. in several locations in Columbus and in Bexley, Lancaster, and Dublin. Each will be hosted by one of the women candidates running for office. Two special guests, who know first-hand the importance of electing more Democratic women to office, will participate in a conference call at 1:20pm to kick off the canvasses.

In announcing this event, the ODWC notes these statistics:

* Ohio ranks 38th in the country for number of women in State Legislatures (17.4%).

* Women currently hold only 88, or 16.4%, of the 535 seats in the 110th US Congress.
