Chris Dole\, county commissioner candidate running as an independent\, will speak at the May meeting of the Blue Ash-North East Democratic Club. The meeting is set for Tuesday\, May 20 at 7 PM at the Blue Ash Golf Course\, 4040 Cooper Road.
Dole\, a long-time Democrat and Crosby Township trustee\, decided to run after learning that county Democrats would not field a candidate against Republican Greg Hartmann for county commissioner. In exchange\, Republicans agreed not to endorse a candidate running against Commissioner Todd Portune.
Dole said the deal between the two parties was “an abuse of the electoral system. As Americans\, how can we let anyone take our vote away from us?”
Many rank-and-file Democrats were also upset by the two-party deal\, but the Hamilton County Democratic Party refused to officially endorse Dole in his race against Hartmann.
The May 20 meeting is an opportunity for area residents to meet Chris Dole and learn about his campaign plans\, said Carol Heideman\, president of the Blue Ash – North East Democratic Club.
